"OS X needs to repair your library to run..."

"OS X needs to repair your Library to run applications. Type an administrator's name and password to allow this."  This seems to happen to a lot of new students or first time logins.

This a race condition with the mobile user creation where the folders are created faster than Kanaka can assign permissions to them on the first login... not sure if it was introduced with Yosemite, newer version of Kanaka, or some apple update...

To fix Library permissions without reimaging:

- Open terminal
- type "su - phelp", press enter
- type the phelp password, press enter
- type "cd /Users", press enter
- type "sudo chown -R USERNAME:staff USERNAME", press enter
- type the phelp password, press enter
- revel in the splendor of not having to reimage...

No quotes, USERNAME replaced the user you're trying to fix...
